This 1954 Gretsch Duo Jet was made during the dawn of the solid body electric guitar era- remember Fender debuted the Stratocaster in the same year. This is a two owner guitar, the first owner buying it new in 1955- hoping to pick up girls while riding the Elvis wave. That dream never transpired and the guitar quickly took up space under a bed until 1968 when his high school friend returned from Vietnam and purchased it- rusty strings and all. It is now being offered for sale here in the original Gretsch branded case. $8,500.
