Gretsch G5420T Electromatic Black

Summary: For those after the clear, powerful character of a classic hollow body guitar, the Gretsch G5420T Electromatic offers an easy inroad to pure tone. Bearing aesthetic appointments like '50s style G6120 headstock and Pearloid Neo-Classic fretboard inlays, the G5420T matches beauty with sonic braun through a treble bleed circuit and a pair of iconic “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups. This particular Gretsch has been upgraded with Sperzel locking tuners and Graphtech Black Tusq nut.

Body: The Gretsch G5420T Electromatic Hollow Body has a bound single-cutaway hollow body featuring sound-post bracing and elegant bound f holes.

Neck: Comfortable D shaped maple neck with bound rosewood fretboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, aftermarket Sperzel locking tuners and hump block inlays. Nut width is1 ¾ & the Scale length is 24 3/4

Pickups/Hardware: 2 “Blacktop” Filtertron pickups, silver plexi pickguard, three-position pickup switch, classic “G” arrow control knobs, rosewood-based Adjusto-Matic bridge, trapeze tailpiece, replacement Sperzel locking tuners and chrome-plated hardware.

Cosmetics: This Gretsch shows signs of being played a bit but was well kept and cared for. There are some light scratches around the knobs and a couple nicks around the knob on the cutaway. The back has some buckle rash and there is a small amount of fretwear. The tuners have been swapped out and the holes have been filled and colored to match but you can still see that the original Kluson style tuning keys were once there….

Playability: Plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard. It has low action and all electronics are working properly. It has been set up by our in-house luthier and strung up with a new set of 10’s.

Modifications: The the nut has been upgraded to a black tusq Graphtech nut and tuners have been upgraded to Sperzel locking tuners.

Weight: 6 lbs, 10 oz.
