The 1977 Gretsch Committee is in very good vintage cosmetic condition showing some signs of play wear throughout and especially in the forearm area (see photos). The finish in that area has rubbed off on the front and back of the body. The rest of the finish is very nice and clean. The wooden pickguard wings are replacements that appear to be homemade but were done rather well and really add some charm! The plug in the back of the body beside the neck that covers the truss rod adjustment hole is missing. The truss rod works as intended. The neck profile on this guitar is that of a medium chunky C shape with a flat center that tapers slightly larger towards the 12th fret. This neck is very comfortable and feels nice in the hand. The fret wire shows some wear but the frets are in pretty good shape (see photos). This guitar plays well up and down the fingerboard. The original humbucking pickups sound good and have a pretty powerful woody quality. The bridge pickup has a nice clear bite and sounds great overdriven and the neck pickup is a bit rounder while still retaining clarity and sounds fantastic for clean sounds and thick lead tones. This guitar is housed in a newer rectangular hardshell case that fits well. These Baldwin era Gretsch instruments are quirky, unique and pretty interesting. This one has loads of character and would make someone a fine instrument for years to come.
