It's been a while since we had a big archtop in the shop. This classy beauty knocked us all out.
The guitar has seen some changes over the years but is still a great player with a beautiful neck and amazing tone, plugged in or acoustically.
The pickup appears to be from a 1970s Gibson Johnny Smith. The potentiometer code is covered in solder, so there is no clue of the year of manufacture there, but there is half of a potentiometer cover that is something typically seen on a 70's Gibson. There is also a tone pot on the edge of the changed pickguard.
The frets have been replaced, very professionally, and they have loads and loads of life left.
The bridge saddle is ivory. I'm not sure where it came from, but it really is a nice add.
There is a hairline, superficial crack at the base of the headstock. We inspected it thoroughly and it is not open, active, or moveable in any way. It does not appear to be worked on previously.
There is wear throughout. This guitar has been played, leaving behind a legacy that includes an incredibly great feeling neck.
The entire guitar is a functional piece of art, and the case is as well!
