This 1954 Martin D-18 was owned and played by John Prine, including a performance at the Prize Gala concert in honor of Leonard Cohen on May 14, 2012. A well-loved instrument, this guitar has undergone numerous repairs, all documented on the original sales receipt from Gruhn Guitars (2020). Despite its wear, the guitar remains playable, though its true value lies in its remarkable history. Adding to its significance is a handwritten letter from John Prine on Gruhn stationery, detailing his ownership of the guitar, as well as a color photograph of Prine with the instrument.
