1997 Guild Starfire II Natural Mahogany

Excellent condition featuring single cutaway laminated mahogany thinline hollowbody, bound top and back body edges, two F holes, two Guild humbucking pickups with black plastic pickup surrounds, two volume controls and two tone controls with black plastic Guild shield reflector top knobs, three way pickup selector switch with chrome switch tip, Guild trapeze tailpiece, adjustable wooden bridge, elevated black plastic cascading pickguard with metal mounting bracket and gold Guild logo, set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, Guild peghead shape, black peghead face with pearloid Guild logo and decorative Chesterfield inlay, single ply black plastic truss rod cover, Grover Rotomatic tuning machines, serial number and Made In USA impressed into the back of the peghead, two metal strap buttons, chrome plated metal hardware, natural mahogany finish and original hard shell Guild branded case with black Tolex covering and plush maroon interior.

This Westerly, Rhode Island, built 1997 Guild Starfire II is in excellent condition. Cosmetically, this instrument only shows very faint signs of play wear and looks practically new. This guitar appears to have been very well cared for and is just very tidy. The neck profile on this Starfire II is slim but rounded with a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck is exceptionally comfortable and fun to play! The fret wire is in excellent condition and shows only the slightest amount of play wear (see photos). This instrument has been professionally set up and it plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard with low action.

The original Guild humbucking pickups in this guitar sound tremendous with a very warm, punchy neck pickup and a very nice sounding bridge pickup that has a snappy, articulate tone. This instrument is well suited for jazz and rockabilly but also works extremely well with a dirty amplifier for some really cool blues and rock sounds. This Guild is housed in its original Guild hard shell case for safe travels. If you are looking for an exceptional American made hollowbody electric, this Starfire II is an excellent choice!
