Description

Perhaps the rarest and most desirable of all the Gurian guitars, the Jumbo, with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Not only that, it has Gurian's own famous herringbone marquetry all around the edge of the top, the rosette, and in the back center-strip and is additionally completely bound with Gurian's own parallogram wood purfling around all edges of the sides and back. This extra-fancy trim goes along with the body's Brazilian rosewood and fine-grained Sitka spruce top all being of extra-high quality. The early 1970s saw the last availability of Brazilian rosewood and Michael Gurian saw to it that he had only the best, the rare straight-grained variety, giving this Gurian guitar the clearest. most brilliant tones imaginable. The tuning machines are American-made gold plated Grover Rotomatics and the nut and saddle are of genuine ivory, unavailable for more than fifty years now. Action and playability are superb as gone over here in our own shop. Two narrow segments have been added to the top, nearly invisibly, and the entire guitar has been given an additional coat of lacquer and looks great with its Martin-style tortoise pickguard. Bonus: an active internal pickup system with flexible microphone is already beautifully installed, sounds fabulous! Comes with its original hard shell case, a bit scuffed though quite serviceable. You will not find another like this available, anywhere. An unusual opportunity to own an extremely rare, iconic, top-flight Gurian guitar for only $4995 w/ohsc
