If you're sensitive to the smell of smoke, this bass (or its case rather) may not be for you. If you're a fan of the cigarette smell or are indifferent to it, proceed without worry. This Hagstrom is (as with any Hagstrom instrument) a bit of a detour from the American made classics. Just because it didn't catch on with the same crowd appeal doesn't detract from it though! Even with this in mind, there's no getting around the fact that this 8 string is a bit of an odd duck. This particular bass has a fair amount of wear around the body and on the neck. The original finish is almost completely worn off of the back side of the neck. This does lead to a bit of a bumpy feel, but that's how you know it's a vintage bass! The only modifications made were a replaced nut and port hole as shown in the pictures. Aside from that you've got yourself a nice played in example with plenty of life left in it.
