Description

Summary: Originally an accordion manufacturer, Hagstrom started making guitars and basses in Sweden starting in the late '50s. The Les Paul-like Swede is one of Hagstrom's more well-known and widely played designs. The Swede differs from a Les Paul in its use of a bolt-on neck and its somewhat deeper cutaway.

Body: This is a single cut-away guitar with a solid one piece mahogany construction, double bound top (cream/black/cream/black) and belly contour.

Neck: This guitar has a beautiful c shape mahogany neck with a bound ebony fretboard and headstock. The fretboard has rounded pearloid block inlays with a split block inlay at the 12th fret. The neck is actually a bolt on although from the top and side it looks like a set neck. This allows for easier neck adjustments and repairs if needed. The unique headstock is fitted with equally unique “triple wave” closed back tuning machines that feel very solid. There are 22 frets, the nut width is 1 11/16th and the scale length is 24 ¾.

Pickups/Hardware: This instrument has 2 humbucking pickups, 2 volume and 2 tone controls, pickup selector switch, 3-position tone switch and chrome plated bridge, and machines.

Cosmetics: This vintage Hagstrom has a beautiful gloss that hides most flaws on the guitar. There are lots of pick scratches on the pickguard – a few big dings on the back of the instrument, some buckle rash on the back. All wear is consistent with a well-loved & played guitar from the 1970’s.

Playability: This Hagstrom plays great – we set it up with a set of 10’s and it feels wonderful up & down the fingerboard.

Modifications: N/A

Weight: 9 lbs, 4oz.
