Silvertone Stratotone (Harmony) 1423 1962 | $1075 | Made by Harmony, marketed by Sears, this budget electric cutaway was produced for only a few years. May not have had the quality of a '60 Les Paul, but it surely had its own look which appealed to young players of the day. The cutaway body is somewhat hollow inside, which aids in the unique tones produced, and is adorned with a black-sparkle paint, evocative of the hot rod culture that emerged after WWII. The pick-ups are DeArmonds, and are controlled by an array of unique knobs and a 'blender control' to select just the right tone to run through that Silvertone tube amp. The fingerboard is ebony and multiple-bound w/b/w, with block inlays, and the neck is supported by an adjustable truss rod. This guitar appears all original, remains in excellent condition with full functioning controls and pick-ups. Scale length is 24 1/2" and the neck measures 1 3/4" across at the nut. The guitar retains its original soft case, in very good condition.
