Summary: The Golden Eagle is Heritage’s flagship guitar, one of the finest and most collectable carved archtops on the market today. This particular example plays beautifully and looks great, making it highly desirable to the serious player or collector.
Body: Single cutaway solid carved spruce top. Solid carved curly maple back and solid curly maple rim. Multiple white bound top and back. Bound f-holes. 17” body width; 3” body depth.
Neck: Five-piece curly maple neck with 17 degree peg head pitch. Multiple bound ebony finger board with mother of pearl cloud inlays. Multiple bound head veneer inlaid with mother of pearl eagle and branch; back veneer inlaid with mother of pearl eagle and registration number. Mother of pearl truss rod cover. 25 ½” scale. 12” radius. 1 11/16” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: One Heritage jazz floating pickup mounted on pickguard with one volume control. Individual gold plated Imperial machine heads. Gold plated Heritage bail tailpiece. Adjustable ebony bridge with mother of pearl inlays. Multiple white bound curly maple pickguard.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in very good condition; the finish and hardware are shiny, and the flame maple on the back and sides is gorgeous. There is some play wear in the form of light scratches to the top, and the nut is a custom made bone nut. This instrument shows some signs of light checking on the top. There are a few dings & scrapes on the body consistent with a guitar from the 1990’s that has been played and loved—most notably an or so long scatch on the upper bout.
Playability: Although it’s a large bodied guitar, it sits well and is quite comfortable. The action is low and the neck, which is wide and thin, plays smoothly with no buzz or dead spots. The tone is as big and beautiful as the guitar itself.
Modifications / Repairs: There is a small strip of binding on the bottom F-hole that is missing (underneath the pickguard) and there is a small section of the binding on the neck that has been re-glued.
Weight: 6 lbs, 9 oz.
Case: Original hardshell case
