Description

1978 Prototype Sample by Kasuga Japan. This is a One-of-a-Kind Prototype Sample produced for a well known USA Guitar Accessories Manufacturer in 1978 and made by the Kasuga Factory in Japan. It is actually one of 4 samples made 2 Guitars & 2 Basses but is the only Les Paul style model. This was intended to be a new guitar line from the American Company that was ultimately decided not to produce. It was then stored away in the USA factory for the last 46 years until I acquired it from the Company in 2024. When I received the guitar it never had any pickups installed (see photos) so I had Import Spec Mounting Rings installed and Original NOS Never Used 1980 DiMarzio K10 OEM pickups from my collection put in. These are the Stud Pole Piece pickups that were in all the Vintage Hondo Guitars from 1977-'83 that go well with this 46 year old guitar. The original Japan tuners (which are included/see photo) were not working well so I added a set of Grover Nickel Tuners which fit perfectly with no mods to the guitar. All other parts on the guitar are original including the MIJ Harmonica Bridge, Tailpiece & Strap Buttons. Speed Knobs and Switch tip were added as well but again the original black knobs & switch tip are included. The original protective paper film is still on the control plate (see photos). Condition is VG with some finish scratches but nothing deep or thru the finish. There are two small paint chips behind the neck which are not deep but enough to chip the finish (see last 2 photos) but these are small. Guitar has a big thick Mahogany Body with Thick Carved Maple Cap Top and single ply Binding. Three Piece Maple Neck with Rosewood Fingerboard and Pearl Dot Inlay. Original Brass Nut. Uniquely shaped headstock with no name or serial number since it was a Sample. Like all other '70's Japan Guitars this is a Real Log weighing slightly over 10 pounds. Setup is absolutely perfect with low even action throughout the entire fingerboard and the guitar sounds amazing!! Frets are 100% since it was hardly played for 46 years. Truss rod works perfectly. Quality is second to none and rivals Les Pauls from the period. Most of the nicks, scratches and some finish scuffing around the back (which may be able to be buffed out) are from storage shuffling without a case. A Hardshell Case is included. This is a very cool Rare offering from my private collection. If you collect '70's & '80's Japan made guitars you won't find another one of these anywhere. The Guitar has been pro setup beautifully with .009 gauge strings so it plays and sounds killer.

I will include an email to the buyer once received stating a more complete History of this guitar (what U.S. Company it was made for, etc.).
