1996 Kovacik "Ditson" style parlor guitar #006 w/hsc

I built this guitar way back in '96...it is numbered #006, though I can't really say whether it is truly the sixth guitar I made or not as I didn't keep meticulous track in the early days and when I started numbering I was guessing as to how many might have gone before. The guitar was loosely patterned after the guitars Martin built for the Oliver Ditson Co. back in the early part of the last century, this one a reproduction of the middle-size of the three sizes Martin built. The back and sides are of solid mahogany, the top is solid Sitka spruce. The neck is mahogany (24.9" scale) with a Brazilian rosewood fret board (1 7/8" at the nut). The neck has a barrel shape that is much more like a classical neck than a steel string neck, very much a "D" shape, it will feel quite familiar to a classical guitar player. There is no adjustable truss rod or neck reinforcement. The bridge is rosewood. The body is bound in celluloid tortoise. The top bracing is a 3-fan pattern (which is how the original Ditson guitars were braced), making the guitar most appropriate for very light tension strings light the silk and steel that are currently on it. There are no cracks, dings, dents, scratches or other condition issues. The guitar is very clean and needs nothing. The top is flat under tension and the neck is straight, playability very comfortable. The action measures 6/64" at the 12th fret and the intonation is very good. The guitar is quite loud for being so small and the tone very sweet, nice for finger style. Comes with a domed lid high quality hard shell case. Be sure to check out the sound file! $2500 + shipping. US shipping only, no international shipping offered. NYS buyers add 8% sales tax.
