Here we have a Kramer DMZ 4000 from the late 1970s. Exquisite design and craftsmanship went in to these basses, taking the Travis Bean aluminum neck concept and creating a similar but more affordable alternative. The necks on these are comparable to the ‘50s era Les Pauls and play with very little effort. The large C-shaped profile gives it a perfect baseball bat shape. You can feel the metal parts of the neck but the wood inserts serves to minimize contact with the aluminum. The tone is surprisingly very woody sounding, due in no small part to the beautiful amber finished maple body. 20 frets (plus a zero fret) on an Ebonol fret board with the 34” scale. There are initials and numbers carved into the aluminum towards the center of the back of the neck. Other than some light pick scratches near the strings and a couple tiny indents in the wood panels on the back of the neck this bass is in exquisite shape. The pots have been swapped out so it's difficult to determine an exact date on this guitar. Includes original Kramer hard shell case.
