Description

This Marshall 1959T is in excellent shape, cosmetically quite clean, a few minor wear spots in the "tolex" on the edges, overall looks good. The output transformer may have been replaced with a "period correct" unit, it is difficult to be sure. We state that based on what appears to be non-virgin transformer wiring. This amp, with it's "Plexi" circuitry, has the "BIG" sound associated with the legend. The 1959T has four inputs into two channels. The lead channel has a boosted bright tone, and the rhythm channel has a flat or dark response. Each channel has a high and a low gain input; the low gain input is attenuated by 6dB. The channels can be linked with a jumper cable, which adds to the tonal flexibility of dialing in "the sound", blending the tones of the dark and bright channels together. Since the tremolo is only on the dark channel, with the jumper cable in place and the tremolo on, you can blend in the tremolo leaving the bright channel unaffected. That is cool. Playing this amp is a delight, the EL34's sound wonderful, and this amp is powerful. This is a very collectable and playable piece of Marshall evolution. If you have ever owned one of these, or wished that you had, grab this one while you can !
