Description

Offered for sale:

Used 1987 Marshall JCM800 Model 4210 50W 1x12 tube combo amp serial number 116055.

This combo amp is in very good to excellent condition. Cosmetically showing a small nick and some minor tolex wear. The boost channel volume knob is missing the top insert.

The output transformer has been replaced with a Classic Tone 40-18025 unit. The reverb tank is an Accutronics unit, possibly original. Many USA-export Marshalls from the ‘70s and early ‘80s used the more robust 6550 output tubes. By the mid ‘80s EL34s got more reliable and Jim Marshall preferred the tone. So, this 1987 example was most likely exported with EL34s.

For a couple of years, the original owner experimented with a different speaker. A few years ago, he put the original 70-watt Celestion back in.
Some say the G12M-70 is the least interesting of all Celestions. We understand that any component can affect the tone of a guitar or amplifier; speakers, caps, tubes, woods, even finish. They said the same thing about silver face Fenders. Most amp makers can only wish their amps sound as good as a silver face.

Is there a difference with this Celestion? Probably, a bit. We don't have anything like a G12T-75 around to compare it to. When we acquired this amp, not aware of any speaker favorites, we could instantly hear that it just sounded superb. Should you run out and buy a G12T-75? I live for tone and I wouldn’t be in any hurry.

A Hafler 2 button LED footswitch is included. Since the original Marshal footswitch has no LED feature this Marshall does not send any juice to the LEDs, so they will not light. The switch does change channels and engage the reverb.

The split-channel JCM800 series amps were the first Marshall amps with an effects loop and channel-switching capability. In addition to offering the classic JCM800-era crunch tone, these amps also sport a decent clean tone and reverb, making for a much more versatile amp.

“We test every used amp and pedal when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. Then we burn it in for an hour or so before we ship so that there are no surprises.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
