Description

This pre-war 12 fret 0-17 has had a number of repairs over its near century of life but needs nothing now but a new home. This is its second time through my shop, and on its last trip through it had two back cracks and three top cracks repaired. The repairs are tight, level and stable. It also had a neck reset, the bridge reglued (the bridge is a factory replacement), the a correct size replacement bridge plate installed, and a fret level and dress. At some time in the past the entire body was over-sprayed, likely at Martin. The over-spray is pro quality and it has a semi-gloss surface, which is why I suspect it was done at Martin. Martin is known to have over sprayed many guitars in the 60s/70s in satin, and almost anyone else who did an over-spray on this guitar likely would have done a gloss finish. In addition, when the guitar was last in my shop it had a black acetate pick guard on it that was under the finish, another Martin factory practice that virtually no one other than Martin did. I replaced that black acetate guard with a tortoise celluloid pick guard made from material from the 1940s for a more appropriate vintage look. The original tuners are present and function properly. Bridge pins are likely original and in good condition. The guitar is solid inside and out, needs nothing in terms of repair or set up. The nut width is 1 7/8" and the string spacing at the bridge is 2 3/8". The neck is straight under tension and the action is set at 6/64" and 5/64 at the 12th fret with plenty of saddle showing above the slot under tension of light gauge. A great finger picker, balanced and even tone with good intonation. Excellent as well for old time strumming and vocal accompaniment. Superb sounding guitar. Comes with a modern Superior hard shell case. $3000 + shipping, NYS buyers add 8% sales tax. No international shipping offered.
