Description

This is an extremely rare and desirable Martin 00-42 guitar. These were made in limited quantities in 1939.

This one has been recently set up to play and sound beautifully. With the 12 fret neck, it has a much larger and fuller sound than one might expect from a 00. It is completely ready to play and to be enjoyed, needing no repairs or adjustment. It features a spruce top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. The fretboard is ebony with abalone trim and inlay ornately appointed as these were. This example is a true joy to play and the sound is rich and full.
The guitar was professionally and painstakingly maintained over the years including an older overspray on the back of the neck, a careful neck set, surfaces on the body have been touched up with a few areas being refinished in the early 70’s. Two small top crack repairs and four cleats were added. A set of mid-60’s Grover G-98 tuners has been added.
