I always love having old Martin guitars around, particularly from the 40s and earlier. A 000 from this period is a true delight!
I just got the guitar back after sending it in for a little work. Jeff at Lollar guitars handled everything quite nicely, as he always does.
Jeff stabilized the pickguard crack and re-glued the bridge. The guitar is now good to go.
Previous repairs include the stabilized dent you'll see on the lower bout, near the endpin. There must have been a top seam separation at some point as well, which was professionally addressed.
The guitar has also had a neck reset and a refret.
The maple bridge plate is original, as is the bridge. Nuts and saddles are often replaced in the neck reset/refret process - I am sure that is the case here.
Pretty much every Martin guitar needs the work I've disclosed here. Getting a guitar that has already had a reset and refret represents restoration work that costs anywhere from $1300 to $2000, depending on where you live. Buying a guitar and finding out that you have to pay for such work is distressing. Fret not - we've taken care of this for you!
The guitar plays wonderfully and sounds beautiful. It has really nice curb appeal as well.
Included is a nice, modern hardshell case.
