An incredible sounding 1943 Martin 000-28! This golden-era Martin features gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides, an Adirondack Spruce top, a Mahogany neck, stunning herringbone purfling, and scalloped bracing. Modifications include a replaced nut/saddle, a neck reset, a replaced bridge, and a refret for improved and updated playability! This example also has a replaced fingerboard which was updated by Mark Tossman with period-correct inlays. Great overall condition with some pick wear and general dings and scratches from use/transport. A great example of an early 40s Martin! Includes hardshell case.

"However you feel about him, Eric Clapton is probably the first artist most of us associate with Martin’s 000 body style. His 1992 MTV Unplugged performance was dominated by a ’66 000-28, and singlehandedly cemented the model as a beacon of vintage Martin excellence.
For many who aren't Clapton, though, an early '40s 000-28 is considered the perfect flat-top acoustic guitar. The Adirondack spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back are stuff of legend. The 15” lower bout width is only 1/2” smaller than a Dreadnought, but feels much more comfortable and controllable. The light scalloped bracing and herringbone appointments are universally imitated. And the tone? Lord, the tone.
Virtually every Martin guitar from this period has undergone at least some repairs during its life, and this one is no exception. Fortunately, all the work done on this 000 has been absolutely top-notch. The bridge has been replaced with an excellent and appropriately-sized reproduction, as has the fretboard. The guitar has had a fresh neck set, refret, and saddle to bring it up to the highest standards of playability.
This old Martin has some minor general play wear, but is in tremendous shape for its age. It is accompanied by its original hard shell case, and is one of our favorite acoustics currently in the shop."
