2001 Martin 000-42ECB Eric Clapton Excellent, Original Hard, $18,000.00

The best of the best of the best of all the Eric Clapton Signature Series Martins. With back and sides of gorgeous straight-grained Brazilian rosewood and extra-special mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay, this is a most stunning player’s and collector’s item. The ablone-within-pearl borders of the snowflake fingerboard inlay, and the very special abalone vine peghead inlay design taken from a 1902 Martin are both extremely special. Bear in mind too that not only did Martin stop using Brazilian rosewood entirely many years ago, they have even stopped taking orders for what was, for a while, their go-to replacement for Brazilian: Madagascar; that’s just not available anymore either. There were only 200 of these Limited Edition 000-42 ECBs made, fifteen years ago; this is number 107, and I haven’t seen one come up for sale in years, let alone one anywhere nearly this nice. Condition of this prime example is pristine, having come to us from its original owner, who immediately put it away upon purchase with the idea in mind of keeping it that way.
