Offered is this superb 12-Fret slope dread built in the Martin Custom Shop in 2009. This model is very similar to Martin's HD-28 VS and its D28 Authentic 1931 guitars.
This "cannon" of an acoustic has a short (24.9") string scale with a 12-fret neck. It has an Adirondack Spruce top with Golden Era style scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing in a custom pattern. Dark and very straight-grained East Indian rosewood is used for the back and sides. The 12-fret neck has a Martin's "Modified V" carve with a depth of .855" at the first fret. The black ebony fretboard has a 16" radius, a 1-3/4" fossil ivory nut and Golden Era style abalone inlays. It has a vintage-style ebony belly bridge with a fossil ivory saddle and 2-5/16" string spacing. It has a slotted square headstock with engraved brass Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons. It is conservatively styled like a vintage instrument with 28-style cosmetics.
The tone and output of this instrument will amaze you. "Loud and lush" is how I would describe its voice. Please check out the brief sound sample provided below. Few if any other acoustic guitar can give you the "presence" of a 12-fret Martin Dread. If you need to be heard, this is the acoustic design for you! It plays fabulously with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the bass side and 4/64" on the treble side with lots of saddle remaining.
Built in 2009 this guitar has been played but has been treated with great care. The few cosmetic flaws are few and hard to find as shown in the included photos. The frets remain in excellent condition with years of life remaining. It comes in the original Geib-style Custom Shop case with the protective shroud.
