The JJ-4 series has been used by many musicians, including Larry Graham. The basic concept of this model has not changed, but has evolved with a wide range of variations. The JJ-4 uses Bartolini 9S pickups, a single Jazz Bass type pickup with a well-balanced sound that produces a clear and low-noise tone even though it is passive. The body is made of moderately hard white ash, and the impact-resistant maple neck and ebony fingerboard are a perfect match, producing a solid core and bright jazz bass sound.
