Designed in collaboration with world-renowned bass accessory manufacturer Darkglass Electronics, the Ernie Ball Music Man DarkRay 5 unlocks a whole new range of sonic capabilities. This wicked 5-string bass is built in America from a comfortable and contoured select hardwood solidbody in a dazzling Starry Night gloss finish, complete with a black pickguard and matching black hardware. The perfection of the select roasted maple neck paired with the ebony fingerboard rocks, complete with twenty two stainless steel frets.
At the heart of every instrument is the tone; in this case, a modern two-band EQ preamp paired with a single neodymium humbucker was designed by Darkglass specifically for the DarkRay. This preamp offers three modes with very distinct and useful sounds: Clean, Alpha (distortion) and Omega (fuzz). Both distortion circuits are fully mixable via an onboard gain knob and blend control manipulated to the user's preference. Astonishing clean, slight gain or brutal fuzz is obtainable, all with no low-end loss. A bright LED ring and three-way lever switch indicates which mode the bass is in.
