The kabamaki Noh-kan, characterized by its neat appearance like a kagura flute. A thin but powerful sounding pipe.
Outline
Noh flute. Tube made of sooty bamboo and wrapped with birch. Transparent lacquer finish. Probably made during the Meiji and Taisho periods. Sold only for the main body.
Condition
There are some long cracks and repair marks on the side of the lower part of the flute. There are some wear around the mouth of the flute and some of the birch wrapping has peeled off. The wax has been adjusted and serviced.
The position, angle, and shape of the beeswax inside the mouth of the Noh flute can be fine-tuned to greatly affect the way the player's breath enters the instrument, the attack of the sound, and the tone quality of the sound. Our Noh pipes are made with a general amount and shape of wax at the discretion of the flute maker. Please note that fine adjustment may be necessary depending on the player.
Features
The outer skin of the bamboo is left intact like a kagura flute, and there is no tani gouging or nekkaki (cat scratch). It has a neat appearance, which is rare for a Noh flute. Despite its slender head metal, it is a flute with a firm and powerful sound.
