Offered here is perhaps the finest solid body guitar PRS has ever produced this side of one of their far more expensive Private Stock Models. This is a Modern Eagle from the first run, built in 2004.
This original Modern Eagle has a carved and highly figured maple top matched to a mahogany back. Both the 22-fret neck and fingerboard are both made of Brazilian Rosewood. The neck has a 10” radius with ripple Abalone bird inlays. The headstock overlay is also Brazilian Rosewood with an inlaid Modern Eagle logo. It has an ultra-thin satin nitro-cellulose finish. This model was offered in a very limited selection of colors, this is "Old Natural." The electronics include PRS Modern Eagle “RP” pickups with volume, tone and a three-way toggle. It utilizes a simple, but incredibly effective, wrap around tailpiece, finished in gold. This luscious guitar has a total weight of just 8 pounds, 12 ounces and is superbly balanced, sitting or strung.
Few solid body guitars speak to me like these from the original ME run. The premium woods and the satin finish give this guitar the look and feel of a well-preserved vintage instrument. It is lively and resonant, even as PRS guitars go and it nearly plays itself. The tone is like that of an old LP to my ears; just check out the brief sound sample included.
This guitar shows no flaws of any significance and the frets show no observable wear. It comes in its similarly well preserved suede leather case which in itself is amazing, along with tools and some of the original paperwork.
Guitars from this initial and very limited Modern Eagle run are highly prized and fewer still were built in this "Old Natural" finish. This guitar will destroy most any Les Paul you can find. Make this magnificent beast yours today!
