~1999 Paul Reed Smith PRS McCarty Custom ** SOLD ** Tortoiseshell

This is a solid-body PRS McCarty Custom (no longer made) with a unique and extremely desireable feature set: 10-top, birds, wide/fat neck, three-way toggle switch, push/pul coil-split switch, and the VERY rare (on a McCarty)tremelo-bridge option. I'm sure there were others made with this option set, but I've never seen one.

The guitar was custom-ordered to combine the classic PRS strengths (looks, quality, playability, double-cutaway body, bullet-proof tremelo system) with Les Paul-style electronics and the fattest tone possible. The slightly thicker McCarty body, wide/fat neck, and 22 frets retain plenty of beef, even with the tremelo bridge. McCarty Bass and McCarty Treble pickups feed a push-pull switch on the tone control knob, which allows either full-humbucking or single-coil (split-coil) operation. This feeds a three-way, Les Paul-style pickup selector, providing a total of six unique sounds. Best of all - no more rotary knob, "Which position am I in now?" confusion! A much more stage-friendly set-up, plus six tones instead of five.

I've owned this guitar since shortly after PRS shipped it, and I have used it only for recording. There is corrosion (not rust) on some of the metal parts, evidence that the guitar has been played and housed near the ocean. Other than that, I cannot find a nick, scrape or other blemish on this instrument. PRS hard case and case candy, including original "Custom Order" tag, are included.
