2018 Paul Reed Smith Special 22 Semi-Hollow "10 Top" Faded Whale Blue
Offered for your consideration is this very cool PRS Special 22 Semi-Hollow Limited which was introduced in 2018. If you have seen Dead & Company in the last couple of years, then you've seen John Mayer playing a very similar guitar, the Super Eagle, which John had PRS design and build to his very demanding specifications. The Super Eagle is a far more expensive instrument, but the similarity between these two models is obvious.
The Special is a short scale (25") instrument based on PRS' Custom 22. It has a semi-hollow Mahogany body with a flamed Maple top and a single F-hole. This example weighs just over 7 pounds (7 pounds, 1 ounce). The flame Maple top on this instrument is a "10" grade, which is a $600 PRS option. It is finished in "Faded Whale Blue" with a gloss black back and neck. It has a Mahogany neck with PRS' "Pattern" carve which is an updated version of their former "Wide/Fat" neck shape. The fretboard on this guitar is Rosewood with a 10" radius, medium fret wire and a 1-11/16" tusq nut. The Special has a PRS Gen III vibrato bridge and Phase III locking tuners with upgraded hybrid finish hardware.
To play Dead tunes with tones reminiscent of Jerry Garcia's, John Mayer needed a guitar with flexible electronics. The Special is nearly as flexible as his Super Eagle thanks to three pickups, including two 58/15 MT humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions and a PRS Narrowfield in the middle. Controls include a master volume, master tone, a five-way blade switch and mini toggles to split the neck and bridge humbuckers. This setup allows this guitar to make almost any tone you can think of, from thick humbucker crunch to Strat quack and Tele twang, along with everything in between. The guitar's semi-hollow construction adds a airy, woody voice that is marvelous and adds to the guitar's flexibility. As a PRS, this guitar is built with a quality that few other manufacturers can duplicate and it nearly plays itself. It's light weight and superb setup make it a joy to play.
This instrument was purchased by it's original owner at one of the initial PRS Exerience events in 2018. It has been lovingly treated and remains in near new condition with no flaws of any significance. The frets are spotless as well. It comes in it's original PRS tolex case, also in like new condition, along with the trem arm, "Bird Tag" and all the other paperwork and accessories.

Shipping to Continental US addresses is via FedEx Ground, with flat rate shipping of $60 to Eastern time zones, $70 Central and $80 Mountain/Pacific. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is $100. Refunds of the original purchase price less shipping and a 10% restocking fee may be requested within 48 hours of delivery. Exchanges within one (1) week of the original date of purchase may be made for an item of equal or greater value at the discretion of Capital Guitars. Where permitted herein, items must be promptly returned at the buyer's expense, in the same condition as received with all accessories and paperwork included.
