A work of the artist, original writer, guitarist Hiroto Saki, and guitar maker, Soul of Kano Ki
Kodama Kanou / The Bird on Fire
I will skip the introduction of Mr. Hiroto Saki's personality and works,
Mr. Saki plays "J.S. Bach's Unaccompanied Violin Partita No. 2, BWV1004, on classical guitar, in the same register as the violin."
Mr. Bach ordered this guitar from guitar maker Soul Kano to realize his idea of "playing J.S. Bach's Unaccompanied Violin Partita No. 2, BWV1004 on a classical guitar in the same register as the violin.
It took three years to make the guitar. The price of the order at that time was 2.3 million yen.
Mr. Saki, who owned a 1969 Hermann Hauser II, was determined to have it made by a Japanese guitar maker.
We would like to express our utmost respect to Mr. Soul Kano Ki, who expressed the player's idea in the form of a guitar.
Let's take a look at this guitar.
The first thing that catches the eye is the decoration on the rosette.
The title of this work, "Firebird," is lavishly expressed in pearl and avalon.
The design is by manga artist Tai Okada, who has also worked with Saki.
The body top is made of Ezo spruce.
The top quality spruce is used for high-end Japanese guitars.
The grain of the wood is packed tightly and evenly lined up.
It may be called an art form.
Maple is used for the body side backs.
The use of maple in classical guitars may seem unfamiliar, but the tone is as spectacular as the flamed surfaces that emerge.
In addition, walnut is used for the neck, ebony for the fingerboard, and rosewood for the bridge.
The ebony's rich, fast-rising tone is made gentle by the walnut neck, and reverberates through the rosewood into the hard maple body.
The tone is bright, yet warm.
Both woods are the best ones that have been in the workshop since the prewar days of Mr. Kinari's father, Mr. Kikonobu.
Each note tells a story, making this a supreme piece of music.
The ultimate feature is the tuner with a shiny pearl tip mounted on the head.
This is Rogers' Hauser style white pearl.
Made in Canada, the finish is a work of art.
The price for this guitar alone is 280,000 yen. This is an amazing price for a famous brand's guitar.
This is truly a work of art with the souls of Mr. Saki and Mr. Kano put into it.
We hope that this guitar will be given to those who aspire to create original music and performances as Mr. Saki has conceived.
