Description

Summary: The 3000 bass debuted in 1975 as a budget-conscious option during the recession. Deviating from Rickenbacker’s usual neck-through construction, the 3000 has a maple bolt-on neck with its electronics mounted to the pickguard (not surprisingly, it is rumored to have been designed by an ex-Fender employee).
Body: Dual cutaway solid maple body in natural finish.
Neck: Short scale maple bolt-on neck. Un-lacquered Paduak fretboard with dot inlays. Non-cresting headstock. Black “Rickenbacker” truss-rod cover. 21 frets. 30” scale. 1 5/8” at nut.
Pickups/Hardware: Single high gain humbucking pickup with no pole pieces, black plastic cover. Volume and tone controls with black knobs. Black pickguard. Large metal adjustable bridge. Two on a side open-gear tuners.
Cosmetics: This bass has a cool two-tone look with its natural maple body and neck and black pickup, pick guard and black tape wound strings. The finish is checked and has dings and scratches from normal playing. The body and neck is solid with no cracks or breaks. The metal bridge is pitted. There is one small, stable pickguard crack at input jack. Fretboard is in excellent condition with only minor wear to the first few frets.
Playability: The action is nice and low and the narrow short scale neck makes playing a breeze. The single pickup is authoritative and full. This is a great choice for a guitarist looking to do double duty, or the bassist who prefers the weight and comfort of a short scale but still needs to push out low end like the big boys.
Weight: 9 lbs, 8 oz.
Case: Original case.
