Summary: This rare 4-pickup surf guitar has tons of character & lots of tone to back it up. This old guitar has recently been restrung with a set of 10’s and it plays great. This has an old school chunky neck with the logo in-tact & the “Steel Reinforced Neck” sticker is still on the back of
the headstock!
Body: Solid mahogany body Double cutaway – wonderful aged blue finish with a space-age silver pickguard & 4 pickups & tons of switches & options!
Neck: Fat chunky old school neck with a fully bound rosewood fingerboard, 20 frets, original tuning keys with the white plastic washers on top, “Silvertone” logo on the headstock
Pickups/Hardware: 4 chunky single coil pickups, one volume knob (replacement), one original tone knob, nickel hardware, offset block inlays, 4 tuners on the bass side & 2 tuners on the treble side. Original tuning keys, original tremolo system, metal striped pickguard, lots of switching capabilities.
Cosmetics: This old guitar is in good shape. There are lots of small scratches on the metal pickguard & several dings & nicks on the body, consistent with a well-played but loved vintage electric guitar. This guitar shows lots of wear around the edges with paint scratched off near the D-string tuning key, some buckle rash & scratching on the back, lots of wear on the metal tremolo system.
Playability: We put a new set of 10’s on this vintage surf guitar & it plays great! The neck was fully adjustable & the bridge is also very adjustable – you could set the action up to be lower or higher. We set it up with medium action & the guitar plays pretty good.
Modifications: The volume knob has been replaced
Weight: 9 lbs, 4 oz.
