Description

I have live the Spector life since 1987 and owned many, but this bass is a different breed of killing machine. Very few times in my years of playing have I picked up an instrument that commanded such respect from the first note and this was before I knew how to properly operate it. I just plugged it in, hit that low "B" and grinned...

To begin, the visual appointments on this NS-5 are incredible. Or, as my British neighbor would say, "That's a lovely bass." The quilted Maple body is superbly pleasing to the eye and when you turn your attention to the engines of the bass, you really start the journey of impressiveness.

The twin EMG soapbars are impressive by themselves, but when you add the bite of the piezo pickups, that is where the tone really shines. They add a high-end snap that sizzles and combined with the guttural growl of the EMGs give you a tone that both fills up the bottom while cutting into and through the mix of drums and guitars we bassists have to contend with. Simply put, this bass and its tone will get you noticed in a very quick fashion. And, I mean in a commanding way.

I could only find one other NS-5PXL on the interwebz and that was deep in a bass forum from several years ago, so that leads me to believe that there were not many of these basses made. I can't imagine what the upgrade costs would be in todays Spector market, but I highly doubt it would be cheap. As to condition, the bass has been very well taken care of. There are a couple of tiny pin tip dings on the upper edge of the body and a small patch of pick swirls that can only be seen by turning the bass into the reflection of an overhead light. There are also a couple of small dings on the edge of the headstock.

The bass has been cleaned, detailed, restrung with fresh strings and set up for optimal playing. The original case is M.I.A., so we housed it in a heavily-padded Road Runner gigbag so you can be on the go in an instant. Please take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, we thank you for stopping by!
