Description

Offered for your consideration is this very special Taylor 914 built in 2006. The 914 is a 14-fret Grand Auditorium-sized instrument and is at the top of Taylor's production food chain.

This example was custom ordered with high grade tone woods and without the Taylor electronics making an already great acoustic even more special. It was ordered with a Red Cedar top and highly figured Cocobolo for the back and sides. The bracing is Taylor's forward shifted with relief rout. The neck is made of tropical Mahogany with the lovely slim shape that Taylor guitars are known for. and It has a black Ebony fingerboard bound in ivoroid with 15" radius and fancy abalone inlays. Cosmetics include an abalone rosette and top trim. It has a 25.5" string scale, a 1.75" bone nut and 2.25" string spacing. The bridge is made of black Ebony with 914 style abalone inlays and a bone saddle. The tuners are gold Gotoh 510's with Ebony buttons. A simple and natural sounding K&K mini pickup was selected over the early era Taylor ES electronics.

With it's nut width, string spacing and venetian cutaway design, the 914 is a great instrument for both finger style and flat pick playing. It is a nicely responsive instrument, with nearly all of the output and percussive bass of a dreadnought, but with thicker mids and nicer upper end clarity. Check out the brief sound sample included. This guitar sounds lush and it plays like butter!

While built in 2006, it is obvious this guitar has been treated with utmost care. The guitar is nearly flawless, with just a couple of tiny dings on the top which I have pictured. You will really have to look for these flaws. The frets reamain in superb condition. The guitar comes with it's original Taylor case, also in fine condition.

To get a guitar like this via Taylor's BTO program would cost you around $6K today. Get this fabulous top-of-the-line and one-of-a-kind instrument for a great price. Click the 'Buy Now' button and make it yours. A very fine high-end acoustic indeed!
