Description

Remarkably clean L-4, from 1914. We had it set up, plays nice, everything looks great. There really isn't anything I can point to and explain away, the guard looks right, the 2 pickguard mounts are right, the nitro tortoiseshell tailpiece. I believe the machines, I think it's all there. The binding looks good, just a really nice example. The case is in great shape, and has the old key attached by a chain.
The label is really faded. We tried to enhance it, looks like beside Gibson is say "guitar", beside model it says "L4". The serial is very faint, but I got 16863 out of it- that puts it at 1914, but the middle ring of the rosette is diamond shaped, which is an earlier thing, so very late 1913/very early 1914 I'd say.
I will be glad to send any additional pictures. Thanks for looking!
