Up for grabs, one sublime and all original example of a 1981 Tokai ES100R, in nitrocellulose lacquer Sunburst finish, complete with it’s originally supplied hardcase.
Widely regarded as one of the finest vintage Japanese ES platforms ever crafted, this Tokai ES100R closely mirrors the classic tonewoods of its Gibson-branded counterpart. In line with the 1959 Gibson ES-335 specs, it boasts numerous vintage-correct features, including a long pickguard that extends past the bridge, a no-wire ABR-1-style nickel-plated bridge with matching stopbar, an amber switch tip, and gold bonnet knobs. Additionally, it is crafted from carefully selected “old-growth” woods, sports the correctly shaped “Mickey Mouse” ear body, and is equipped with a pair of Goto S-stamp PAF clone humbuckers, all finished in a Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss.
Considering the guitar's vintage, it’s in fine condition with minimal play-wear. There are some light surface marks, a few minor indents, and a scrape on the left-hand side of the headstock. Otherwise, this ES is a prime example, free from any significant wood-bearing dings and devoid of breaks or repairs. All these details have been carefully photographed, so please review the images thoroughly.
All 22 frets retain plenty of life, showing little to no wear, and all the original hardware and plastics remain fully intact. The stock electronics operate flawlessly, delivering the intended performance, while both PAF-style Goto humbuckers preserve their distinctive tone and power. This one weighs in at 8.15lbs.

Customers are responsible for covering all shipping and insurance expenses for both outbound and return shipments, unless alternative arrangements have been made. Prior to initiating a return, customers must make contact to obtain a return authorisation. Returned items must be in their original condition. Unauthorised returns will be declined and returned at the customer's expense. Returned items are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
