Description

If you’re looking for a late 70’s Strat then you probably can’t do better than a Tokai SS-80. Why? Just look at the factory specs - Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish, one-piece Sen body, Rock Maple neck, Dimarzio FS-1 pickups, Schaller style tuners, brass nut and brass keyhole saddles Tokai called the ‘Long Sustain Bridge’. This model was not only made to compete heads up with the real thing at the time, but raise the bar in terms of specs and craftsmanship.

The SS-80 was the top of the line Silver Star model and was the only Silver Star model to come finished in nitro. Compared to lower Silver Star models, tuners, nut, bridge, pickups, finish and body were all upgraded for this model. While base model Silver Stars are very common, the SS-80’s don’t come up very often.

This SS-80 is all original and finished in Tokai’s YS three tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish, which is applied ultra-thin and reacts instantly to acetone. You can see in some of the pics how the finish has yellowed and sunk into the grain.

Condition wise, this guitar has a lot of dings and nicks, please refer to the pictures, but is in overall very good condition and plays and sounds fantastic. The original FS-1 pickups deliver great 70’s Strat tones. The guitar has been gone through completely with a s full setup and polish of the frets. It plays great with D’addario.009-.042 strings installed.

Really great guitar.

The guitar will come with a non-original hard case.
