1957 Valco Alkire E Harp Amp
No Sales Tax For Customers Outside Of California.
This Valco made Alkire branded amp came in with a late 40s Alkire E Harp steel. If we still have the steel it will exist in a separate listing.
The amp was likely was paired with an Alkire steel from that decade at one point.
The speakers sound pretty darn good and the amp runs really quietly after getting a little work done here in the shop.
One capacitor in the amp had been changed prior to arrival here. I changed one other wax cap that had strayed pretty far from spec. I also added a grounded power cable. The transformers and speakers are clearly original. The filter cap can is original.
The amp naturally goes into output overdrive at low volumes and really sounds good! Pairs well with a Telecaster!
The metal, octal based preamp tubes are always a bit microphonic. One original one in the amp was replaced with a NOS RCA replacement. I added a brand new JJ rectifier tube and a pair of old, tested RCA 67V6s so it is all solid for you.
