Description

Vox V240 Folk Twelve Electro c 1967 | $795 | (v2512) The Vox Twelve Electro is another example of how the so-called 'folk boom' sparked guitar manufacturers world-wide to produce guitars aimed at the coming-of-age baby-boomers. The Twelve Electro, made in Italy by Eko, appeared in all its Italian glory sometime in the mid-sixties, and faded into guitar oblivion by the close of the decade. This near-mint example has a lot going for it, and comes complete with its 'hang tags' and original hard case.

The Vox guitars were made by Eko in Italy, and this example shows attention to fit and finish. The top, back and sides are all laminate. The top is a type of fir or spruce with bear claw figure and X-bracing. The back appears to be an exotic tropical wood. The bridge appears to be rosewood and features an adjustable saddle ala Gibsons of the period. The neck is 3-ply laminate, bolted on like a Strat, with a rosewood fingerboard featuring a 'zero' fret and large block inlay. The headstock features a black overlay with Vox embossed in large white letters. The top, back and neck are all bound. There is a single pick up with controls for volume and tone. The enclosed tuners are likely of European manufacture and feature the Vox logo.

The body measures 16 1/4" across the lower bout. Scale length is 25". String spacing is 1 7/8" across at the nut, and 2 1/8" at the saddle.

Overall, the guitar and case are in near mint condition. There are no apparent repairs except it appears that the pickguard was reglued at one time, and without a bit of glue smudge this guitar would be dead mint. The action is set at 4 & 5/64". It''s currently strung with flat-wound electric guitar strings tuned down a whole step.

The guitar is a blast to play .. especially plugged in!

Comes with its original Vox hard case, also in near-mint condition, and a variety of 'hang tags', which all add up to a great vintage package!
