SN 387. NEW PRICE! Always a special day when a Wayne C. Henderson guitar rolls into the shop. This one is light as a potato chip and sounds like thunder and lightning. Classic D-18-style build; mahogany back and sides bound in black top and bottom, Adi top forward X-braced, ebony bridge and fretboard, vintage tortoise-style pickguard, mahogany neck, tasteful decal logo and the unmistakable Henderson headstock and scalloped belly down bridge. Most likely built when Wayne was holding down a job, managing a busy playing and festival schedule and making a few amazing guitars for friends and acquaintances. As gorgeous as it is, this is a player’s guitar. The tone is somewhat startling. It has the unmistakable growl of a great prewar D-18 with huge bass, fat trebles and blooming midrange. The neck feels like a ’46 Martin – 1 11/16” nut, 2 ¼ spacing at the bridge -- with some meat on the bone. Complete setup by Mark Tossman. With a good quality hardshell case. Come see this one at Wintergrass and the vintage guitar workshop Saturday morning 2/22. On consignment.
