Gibson Custom Shop 2012 Historic Collection 1979 Flying V Lightly Aged
This is a special edition "1979 Flying V Lightly Aged" model, produced in a limited edition of only 16.
The concept of this model was to reproduce specifications similar to the 1979 Flying V that was known to be used by Kirk Hammett of Metallica.
The weather checks and peeling paint from the aging process have been reproduced to give it a vintage look, and it features pickups with escutcheons.
It has a slightly rounded headstock with a slightly rounded tip, a volute neck, witch hat knobs and a slim, narrow, thick-walled "70s Narrow Fat" neck grip with a nut width of approximately 40mm.
The pickups are equipped with Custombucker.
It currently has the original pickguard, but there are signs that another pickguard has been fitted and additional screw holes drilled.
The frets are not very worn and there are no problems with the neck or the truss rod.
