*Inspired by a 1929 Martin OM-28
*Alpine Spruce / Quartersawn Brazilian Rosewood
*Build by Michael Walker
The latest Schoenberg guitar, a Concert Model 1929 OM-28, made by Michael Walker of Arcata, CA. It was deeply inspired by an OM-28 from 1929, the ninth one made. In fact, it was not called an OM in the Martin records of the time; it was a 000-28 Special we believe, and was among them first OMs to have a pyramid bridge. This guitar was owned by Eric for decades, and was the first inspiration for Schoenberg Guitars, and all other Schoenberg models have grown out of this one.

Michael and Eric have a strong common focus on these vintage Martins as the paragon of modern flattops, and creating this new version is a process of going back to our roots as a learning process in creating the best guitars that we can, in all functions: tone, feel, playability, looks and more. Michael brings his intensive experience and skill and dedication to his craft, and Eric brings his century plus focus as a concert level fingerstyle guitarist and vintage guitar expert.

This guitar is phenomenal! It relates primarily to 1930 and earlier guitars that are lightly built, coming from the days of gut strung finger style guitars and just before the advent of heavy gauge steel strings which required stronger guitars. The lightness gives full responsiveness: a light touch brings out a full tone, which is open and rich, which this guitar has in spades. The bottom end is startlingly full and the treble is clear and fat, a gorgeous voice to carry a melody. The top is top grade Alpine spruce, back and sides are quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood.

We have gone to great efforts to capture the neck shape of 1930 which Eric has been attempting to reproduce for decades. The process of acheiving the perfect shape has proven to be a complicated skill involving subtlety and precision, which Michael has been able to accomplish admirably. The bar frets are another carry over from the originals, which, when properly done, are an interesting positive aid to the playability.

Our "Cash price" policy: unfortunately, the credit card companies support "swiped" charges in which the card is physically run through the card reader. Phone-in charges are charged at a much higher rate (to the seller) which can take quite a big chunk out of a high-dollar sale. Thus, for those call-in sales, let's discuss the issue at the time; hopefully, we can figure some way to deal with it.
