1982 Greco “Super Real” Mint Collection EG58-120 Transitional Model Cherry Sunburst Lacquer w/OHSC, Dry P/Us, Long Tenon Neck, 8.8lbs, MIJ, Japan, FujiGen, EGF-1200

Presenting a remarkably rare and entirely original 1982 Greco Mint Collection "Super Real" EG58-120 "Transitional Model," showcasing a captivating Cherry Sunburst Lacquer finish and outfitted with a pair of "Dry 1982" PAF clone humbuckers. This offering includes the seldom-seen Greco "Super Real" brown Lifton clone hardcase, boasting a pink interior.

Highly sought after by collectors alike, the EG58-120 hails from the renowned FujiGen factory, representing the pinnacle of Greco's offerings in 1982. Priced at 120,000JPY upon release, as indicated by the intact sticker on the rear of the headstock, this model essentially embodies the esteemed EGF-1200, distinguished by a few additional vintage-correct features. Notable among these are the long-tenon neck joint, celluloid markers, and a lustrous amber-tinted nitro finish, giving this instrument its vintage charm.

Moreover, this model showcases the coveted "Dry 1982" PAF clones, often re-labeled "Dry Z" pickups in these earlier transitional models of this era, evident in both their appearance and sonic characteristics.

Personally, we favour this model for its closer adherence to the specifications of the original '50s Les Pauls, enhanced further by the tasteful amber-tinted nitro finish, which enhances both its visual allure and tactile sensation. The meticulous rolled binding work on the fretboard, reminiscent of vintage '50s Les Pauls, also trumps its predecessor.

Regarding condition, our Greco has gracefully aged over its 42-year existence, bearing the marks of its journey while retaining flawless functionality, free from structural damage or repairs. Surface imperfections and minor finish chipping, meticulously documented in accompanying images, speak to its lived-in authenticity. Despite its age, the '59 profile neck and fretboard remain remarkably well-preserved, with all 22 frets exhibiting ample life, ensuring a smooth and responsive playing experience. While the nickel hardware shows signs of tarnishing, particularly noticeable at the neck pickup cover, where the plating has worn, it still harmonises with the instrument's overall vintage aesthetic. Both original cream plastic surrounds have split but still function as intended. A pair of replacements is included if the buyer wishes to swap them out. Additionally, all original pots and onboard electronics function seamlessly. Both "Dry 1982" pickups offer classic, authentic "woody" PAF tones, confirming their reputation as some of the finest PAF clones available.

Weighing in at 8.8lbs, this guitar is also notably lighter, enhancing its playability.

It’s been expertly cleaned and setup by Ben of Beej Guitar Repairs with a fresh set of 10-46 strings.
